Two passwords, two very different powers.

Two passwords, two jobs

Every MetaTrader account comes with a main password, which can trade, and an investor password, which can only view. With the investor password, someone can see your trades, balance and history, but cannot place, change or close a trade, and cannot move money.

That is why tracking uses it. It lets our server record your trades automatically without any ability to act on your account.

Where to find it

Your broker usually emails it when the account is opened. If you can't find it, set a new one in MetaTrader 5: open your account settings, choose to change the password, and pick the investor password.

What never to share

Never share your main password, with anyone, including us. If you think you entered it somewhere by mistake, change it in MetaTrader straight away.

Copy trading is different

If you choose optional copy trading, that service is authorized separately, with its own permissions. It is not the read-only tracking connection.

Try it

Exercise: find your investor password now, and store it in your password manager next to your account number.
